The Gumball 3000 Rally crossed the Channel from the United Kingdom to the European continent for the first time in a while in 2023. The hyper-exclusive supercars made a pit stop in Bruges on the way to Amsterdam. The organisers and the city council asked our PR and press teams to help ensure everything went smoothly on the Bruges leg of the rally.

First for Bruges

The Gumball 3000 Rally is always a great experience and that was certainly true of the ‘superstars in supercars’ parade through historical Bruges. It was the first time ever that the rally had scheduled a stopover in the city. The challenge was making sure this high-end crowd-puller featuring more than 100 exclusive cars all went according to plan. Happily, the rally organisers and Bruges city council were able to rely on the support of our teams.

Hospitality, logistics, catering

We received the participants in the iconic rally at Het Zand square in the centre of Bruges. We guided the cars, driven by famous names from international sport and showbusiness, through picturesque streets to the Grote Markt, the city’s main market square. A dedicated show area had been set up there to give the general public and the press a chance to get a close-up view of the elite cars and their star drivers. As well as taking care of drivers and journalists, we also provided the catering for the drivers in the Belfry of Bruges. And our full service clearly hit the spot!

With press communication

Our press team made sure that the media knew that the Gumball 3000 Rally was passing through Bruges. We produced a media release in Dutch based on the official English-language text, invited journalists to the event and provided them with full information. We sent out the media release to a select number of online and print media outlets. It worked a treat, delivering a lot of lucrative free publicity.
